Musical Field Trips

In the past few weeks, we have had several opportunities for music related field trips. We toured our local Kazoo Factory and made our own kazoo. We braved the rain to hear the Drum and Bugle Corps perform, and we participated in an Instrument Petting Zoo at the library. Since we are learning about the Orchestra in Classical Conversations, these outings coincided nicely with our studies.




The kids really enjoyed all of the hands-on musical activities, and they have had a lot of fun taking turns conducting a pretend orchestra at home. Belle has expressed an interest in playing the violin, so we are looking into lessons for next school year. Although John drew the attention of the whole library with his mad percussion skills, we aren't looking to invest in anything else for him to bang around the house at this time. :)
