Time to Invent!

Creating is one of Belle's favorite interest right now, so I tolerate the mess (to an extent). One of her responsibilities is taking out our recycle, but lately, more of it gets stashed in her inventing box than the bin outside. I often hear, "Oh, I can use that!" Every time I begin to complain about the cardboard everywhere, Hamilton is quick to jokingly remind me how many times I said I didn't want to stifle our kids' creativity. Well, mission accomplished. I have at least one creative child who is constantly full of ideas, even if they are a tad on the eccentric side. I am not exaggerating when I say she has probably "made" something every day of Kindergarten. Her wheels are always turning. I certainly haven't photographed everything, but I have captured enough images over the past several weeks to give you an idea of what free time around our homsechool looks like.

Since I don't have a cell phone case, my little inventor made one for me!

Who needs pierced ears when you have an imagination? I just love her earrings and other and accessories. She lined the mittens with cotton for "warmth."

She has made hundreds of these "bags."

"I can't sew yet, but I can still make a quilt, mom" (The hole in it is from a certain little 2 yr old)

This particular invention has stayed around longer than usual because it is quite handy, and it reminds me of both Belle and her daddy. Hamilton grew tired of fumbling under the shade to turn on the light, so he changed the switch to a pull chain. After watching him, Belle later decided his handiwork needed to be improved on slightly and made an extender!

"What on earth do you need a waffle box for, honey?" "To make a lunchbox of course, mom!" (It was insulated too)

A chair lift designed by Belle and enjoyed all afternoon by her brother and friend.

After receiving inspiration from a chapter of Little House, she rounded up a crew and began laying train tracks.

One of Belle's greatest obstacles to her hobby is her brother. He daily tampers with her inventions which tends to cause little scuffles. For instance in this image, she had just completed her apron and turned around to find her "kitchen" busted.
