Little hands working, serving and giving
Even a child can make a difference. I believe in teaching them to work and give at a young age. The holidays are full of opportunities for service, and kids just naturally like helping. Once again, mine loved packing Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes and volunteering at the drop-off center. They really enjoyed dumping quarters around the laundromat at Thanksgiving. My little 5 year old event planner was full of ideas for my Gospel for Asia fundraiser even though she was too busy playing to actually collect the proceeds on picture day as she intended. Although we emphasize daddy working hard for our family, his line of work is not conducive for little helpers, but they can occasionally assist in my photography efforts. John felt so important passing out name cards for Upward Sports Photos. Every time Belle looks at our friends' family Christmas card, she knows she was in the background helping elicit smiles from everyone. Sometimes, they help me just by testing the lighting when I am scouting out a spot or a certain prop. Regardless, I think it is important their little hands work, serve, and give. One of my hearts desires is for my children to learn to "Do Small Things with Great Love" (Mother Theresa).
