Big Sister Hosts a Baby Shower

For several weeks, Belle lamented not getting to attend a baby shower for her new little brother. She has been to several showers, and she really wanted to celebrate James' arrival too. When the thought suddenly struck her to plan one herself, she did not waste a second digging into my baby shower supplies and decorating. She was especially proud of the homemade mobile and confetti filled pinata she hung from the ceiling fan. She diligently made a plan sheet, guest list and glittery invitations.

As soon as grandma caught wind of Belle's plans, she jumped in and helped her with the finishing touches of her little party. She suggested a "Pop" theme and let Belle brainstorm some food and games from there. Belle immediately thought of a whole list of "Pop" items including some original ideas like popping an egg carton with a pencil. The kids had fun with poppers, popping bubbles, jumping on popcorn bubbles, throwing firework poppers and an impromptu game of playing pregnant and popping their balloon belly. For months, the kids have known baby James is protected by a sac of water. (I joke about it a lot since they are constantly knocking my belly) They understand when the water breaks, their brother will make his appearance and mommy's pop belly will hopefully go back down!

Belle really enjoyed leading some games, handing out some prizes and carting all the ladies off to James' room for present time. (Originally, she wanted the entire party in his room!) She was a very proud and excited host, and I am so thankful for family and friends who showed up and celebrated with us. The shower did help heighten my anticipation of James' upcoming arrival, and I will never forget all the hard work my sweet little gal put into hosting. Her efforts meant so much to me, and I can't wait to tell James how much his siblings loved him before he was even born. They are both sooooo eager to have a baby to dote on! We are currently counting down by eating a hershey kiss each day. Lets hope the little man isn't overdue...
