Unscheduled events

My nifty homsechool planner is great, but as I discovered this week, some of the best memories can not be mapped out during my weekly planning session. Coincidentally, our first full week of school held more last minute social events than we have had all summer. Thankfully, we were in a groove this week and had ample time for play after we finished our work! A few times, I had second thoughts about so much activity during an already busy week, but in retrospect, I am really glad we carved in time to strengthen bonds with family and friends. Errands, chores, meetings, photography work, school, and doctors appointments were accomplished, but the memorable smiles were those spent blowing out Granny's 75 birthday candles, jumping in the river, meeting a young new neighbor, laughing with cousins, arguing over board games, playing on dirt hills in the rain, and biding sweet friends farewell. I want my kids to know the people in our lives are worth penciling into our calendar.

Joyful heart reminder: John 13:34 "...love one another, even as I have loved you..."
